Miles Scott-Brown, M. E. Des., P. Biol.
403.686.8986 Environmental Management Miles’ focus of expertise is environmental impact assessment and strategic management of environmental and social issues associated with economic and industrial development. He has experience in environmental assessment, audits and planning for conventional oil and gas, coalbed methane and energy development in sensitive environmental areas. With 25 years experience, Miles has worked at all levels from field biologist to project manager. Miles has extensive experience in the Canadian oil and gas sector and has worked in the Alberta oilsands area, the Northwest Territories and Yukon and throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Internationally, he was environmental auditor of the World Bank, CAF and IADB funded Bolivia-Brazil pipeline to ensure compliance with project loan conditions. He also served as an environmental expert to the World Bank Inspection Panel in review of the Chad Cameroon oilfield and pipeline project. Recently he conducted compliance audits of the BTC pipeline in Turkey and the Camisea Gas Project in Peru. He also continues to actively work in the Canadian oil and gas sector having completed a review of innovative technologies to minimize the footprint of oil and gas activities. Miles is fluent in English and Spanish with a working proficiency in Portuguese. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. Thom Stubbs, B.A., M.A.
403.686.8952 Human Environment Thom has provided strategic leadership, negotiation and mediation services to business and government for over 25 years. He is known for ability to provide key strategic direction on large, multi-party issues that require teamwork, development of a common vision and leadership to reach agreements between industry, environmental groups, aboriginal and government agencies. Thom has led strategic reviews, mediated resource conflicts and facilitated agreements between companies, aboriginal groups, governments and resource interests. Thom chaired the Mackenzie Gas Project industry-government Task Team. He was retained to lead the social and economic impact assessment, aboriginal relations, traditional knowledge and consultation teams for Alaska Gas Pipeline Feasibility Study for Exxon, BP and Phillips Petroleum. He also led an appointed government Commission, serving the Federal Government, Yukon Government and First Nations to review and report on forest management in the Yukon. Thom has extensive senior executive and project management experience as a team leader, negotiator, mediator, research director, and Deputy Minister. Thom has published articles and reports, led several public consultation processes, and served as a lecturer and speaker on resource management, public consultation, and strategic planning. Joseph F. Wells, B.Sc. 403.686.8985 Environmental Liability Evaluation and Management Joseph has worked in the field of environmental assessment and remediation since 1973. His early expertise was in Canadian National Parks and dry land reclamation associated with energy development. He later worked on project planning and implementation strategies, environmental management processes and corporate policy for the Alaska Highway Gas Pipeline Project. Since 1985, he has provided consulting services primarily to the energy sector. His area of practice relates to remediation strategies and technologies, evaluation and management of corporate environmental liability, and corporate environmental management. In 1994, Joseph began building the concepts and tools for environmental liability evaluation some of which form the basis for regulatory management of liability in Alberta. Joseph has worked on numerous projects in environmental impact assessment, waste management planning, policy and regulation formulation, environmental information system design, and equipment design and rollout. In addition to his work in the Western Canadian Energy Sector, Joseph has worked internationally in Asia (Indonesia, Bangladesh, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan), Africa (Benin, Kenya, Egypt, Zambia, Togo, Malawi), Latin America (Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica), Europe (United Kingdom, France), and the Middle East (Yemen, Jordan, Cyprus). |
